About the opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer with expertise in Traffic Management Systems (TMS) to join our growing team based in Sydney.
You will play a key role in supporting the TMS workstream, ensuring integration with broader ETCS subsystems (trackside, FTN, DTRS, ATO/onboard) and legacy infrastructure.
Working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to system specifications, design approvals, interface management, change control and subsystem acceptance. Your work will support the safe and efficient delivery of operational outcomes and train service performance for our client.
Key Accountabilities:
- Support the delivery of complex rail systems programs, ensuring outcomes meet client and business requirements.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of the TMS workstream by managing functional deliverables, interfaces and performance against key milestones.
- Provide technical leadership across TMS, ensuring effective integration with wider rail systems and subsystems.
- Interpret and apply technical requirements in line with relevant legislation, standards and industry best practice.
- Support the planning and implementation of rail control systems within complex operational environments.
- Provide technical input into the development of operational specifications, processes and procedures to enable safe and efficient delivery.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams, clients and stakeholders to deliver integrated, high-quality solutions.
Experience & Qualifications:
Essential
- Demonstrated experience working with Traffic Management Systems (TMS) or similar control systems within railway signalling projects.
- Strong engineering background in rail signalling.
- Experience working with ETCS/ERTMS.
- Proven ability to deliver rail projects successfully, on time and within budget.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Strong ability to capture, interpret and implement requirements and agreed changes.
- High attention to detail, with strong report writing skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable
- Knowledge of one or more of the ETCS/ERTMS sub-systems (trackside, Onboard, ATO, FTN, DTRS) or equivalent sub-systems.
- Working towards chartered or incorporated engineering status.
- Membership of a relevant professional body.
- Experience supporting the development and entry into service of new rail infrastructure.
- Experience working within the Australian rail industry.
