Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Senior School Office Administrator to join our administration team on a part-time, fixed-term basis. This is a varied and rewarding role that provides essential administrative support to staff, students, parents and leadership teams while contributing to the smooth day-to-day operation of a busy educational environment.

Working term-time only, the successful candidate will be the first point of contact for many enquiries, provide support to student wellbeing and attendance processes, assist with first aid requirements, and ensure the efficient administration of school office functions. This role requires excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment. Working 21 hours per week (Mon Wed Fri,8.00am – 3.30pm), term time only.

Key Focus Areas

Provide high-quality administrative support to leadership teams and staff.
Manage student attendance processes, including daily attendance reviews and communication with families.
Produce and distribute student communications, including daily bulletins and updates to digital information screens.
Provide first-line assistance to ill or injured students and coordinate appropriate medical support when required.
Complete incident documentation and maintain accurate records.
Respond to enquiries from parents, students, staff and the wider community in a professional and timely manner.
Maintain office systems, databases, records and correspondence.
Support the day-to-day operations of the school office and contribute to a collaborative administrative team.
Assist with student supervision in office and first aid settings when required.
Prioritise and manage workload during busy periods, including major communications and special events.
Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements

Relevant qualifications in Business Administration, Office Administration or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
Previous experience in an administrative or office-based role.
Current First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain and maintain relevant certification.
Demonstrated understanding of child safety responsibilities and commitment to creating a safe environment for children and young people.
Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to exercise initiative, manage competing priorities and work effectively with minimal supervision.
Strong organisational skills with a flexible and collaborative approach.
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and apply privacy principles appropriately.
Advanced computer literacy, including experience with word processing, spreadsheets, databases and email systems.
Ability to work effectively within a team while building positive relationships with students, parents, staff and external stakeholders.
Current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration (Employment).
Current National Police Check (issued within the last six months).
