Are you passionate about supporting others through your lived experience of mental health recovery? Join our newly established Mental Health and Wellbeing Local team and play a key role in helping individuals, families and communities recover from the impacts of the 2026 Longwood Bushfire.
As a Wellbeing Navigator Peer, you will provide compassionate, person-centred peer support, helping people navigate services, build on their strengths, and connect with the support they need to achieve their wellbeing goals. Working within a welcoming, community-based service, you will be part of a peer-led and multidisciplinary team committed to delivering accessible, recovery-focused care.
Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals provide free, voluntary support with no referral required, guided by a "How can we help?" and "No Wrong Door" approach. The service supports people aged 26 years and over experiencing mental health and wellbeing challenges, including co-occurring alcohol and other drug concerns, as well as their families, carers and supporters.
This role is delivered in partnership with Wellways, APMHA Healthcare, Goulburn Valley Health, Alexandra District Health and Yea and District Memorial Hospital.
The successful applicant will have:

Personal experience of distress, trauma, mental illness and/or substance use and the recovery journey, accessing and navigating health carer services, including mental health services and a willingness to draw upon your experiences and recovery journey to inform your work. Personal lived experience of mental distress or mental health issues is a requirement of this role pursuant to s28 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic)

Minimum Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or a relevant field
- Strong understanding of the principles of recovery-oriented practice and peer work values and principles.
- Willingness to travel and work within the community as required by the role.
