Full Job Description

We're Hiring — Kitchen Team Member Part-Time/Casual | 3–4 days/week 6–8 hour shifts | Availability window 7:30am–5pm Monday - Saturday.

You don't need a chef's certificate. You need to love food and care about doing it well.

We're looking for someone to join our kitchen at Trader & Co. where we are more than a café. We're a Yass local favourite built on great coffee, wholesome food, and genuine community connection. We care about the people who walk through our door and the people who work here — and that shapes everything about how we operate.

Our kitchen is calm, collaborative, and takes the food seriously. No yelling, no front vs back of house rivalry — we work as one team. Our head chef will show you how we do things, and if you've got the right attitude, we'll back you all the way.

What the role looks like:

Day to day you'll be across grill work, food prep, and baking — which happens both early in the morning and throughout service. You'll work under our head chef alongside a small part-time kitchen crew. Three to four days a week, flexible rotating roster.

We'll teach you the rest — but we can't teach this:

A genuine love for food and making it well
Tidiness and ownership — you clean as you go without being reminded
Calm, steady energy when it gets busy
Respect for the team around you
Some kitchen or food prep experience (home cooking counts — tell us about it)
