Depot Services Officer
Permanent Full Time
Band 4 $75,554 - $79,121 (includes industry allowance) yearly plus 12% statutory superannuation
Wellington Shire Council is seeking a skilled, customer-focused Depot Services Officer to join mechanical services team and our Yarram Depot. The role supports road related customer enquiries and maintains and repairs Council’s plant, fleet, and equipment to ensure they are safe, reliable, and fit for purpose.
The position plays a key role in Council's service delivery across the Rural South network, assisting with Road Management enquiries, maintaining depot stores, and ensuring operational teams have timely access to well-maintained equipment and materials.
What your day will look like:
- Work collaboratively with your team of mechanics to manage workshop and depot operations, providing support to plant and operators as required
- Coordinate maintenance and repairs with contractors to keep equipment safe and ready for use.
- Liaise with staff, contractors and suppliers, providing practical support and advice.
- Carry out minor hands-on tasks such as basic repairs or welding if required.
- Manage and restock depot material stores.
- Assist with purchasing decisions and provide input into tenders.
We are looking for someone with:
- Relevant mechanical qualification (preferred, not essential).
- Experience in maintenance, depot operations or a similar role.
- Current driver’s licence (heavy vehicle licence desirable).
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with a range of people.
- Practical problem-solving skills and good organisation.
- A reliable, can-do attitude and willingness to learn.
