About the Role
We are seeking a capable and motivated Systems Engineer to support the delivery of complex Defence capability programs.
This role will work within a structured engineering environment, contributing to the coordination, development, and assurance of system-level outcomes across multiple capability streams.
You will collaborate closely with project leaders, engineering teams, and external stakeholders to ensure delivery is aligned with engineering standards, safety requirements, and Defence expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply sound knowledge of Safety Case Management across engineering activities
- Support the planning and execution of engineering programs
- Lead and coordinate a small team of engineering practitioners
- Engage with industry partners and stakeholders on engineering matters
- Contribute to development and governance of:
- Requirements specifications
- Engineering and system safety documentation
- Configuration and risk management plans
- Project engineering strategies
- Coordinate engineering activities across internal and external stakeholders
- Provide clear, balanced engineering advice to project leadership
- Prepare formal correspondence and briefings
- Identify and communicate engineering risks and issues
- Support system-level certification and assurance activities
- Review and support acceptance of contract deliverables
- Mentor and support engineers and junior team members
Skills & ExperienceEssential
- Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautical or similar)
- Recognised under the Washington Accord
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in engineering within a project/program environment
- Experience developing:
- Engineering plans
- Procedures
- Outcome reports
- Strong understanding of engineering governance and structured delivery frameworks

- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Ability to influence and collaborate with diverse teams
- Sound judgement and ability to draw conclusions from available data
- Alignment with and commitment to Defence values and standards
Additional Requirements
- Australian Citizenship required
- Must hold a current NV1 AGSVA Defence security clearance
- Candidates must be ACT-based and available to work on-site
- Completion of a citizenship declaration will be required as part of the process
