An exciting opportunity exists to join the Sexual Health Department at Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) as an Advanced Trainee in Sexual Health Medicine, supported by the RACP Specialist Training Program (STP).

The primary site of work is Warrawong Public Health Unit, with additional clinical sessions delivered across other ISLHD sites including Wollongong, Port Kembla and Shoalhaven.

Located approximately one hour south of Sydney, the Illawarra and Shoalhaven regions offer an exceptional coastal lifestyle with access to beaches, national parks and regional destinations such as Jervis Bay, Kangaroo Valley and Berry.

What you'll be doing

Illawarra Sexual Health Services provides training for RACP Advanced Trainees in Sexual Health Medicine. The program includes clinical experience in the diagnosis and management of sexually transmitted infections, HIV and viral hepatitis; reproductive health including contraception and medical termination of pregnancy; gender affirming care and genital dermatology. The position is supported by the RACP Specialist Training Program (STP).

Selection Criteria:

MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.

Enrolled, or eligible to enrol, as a Sexual Health or Infectious Diseases Advanced Trainee with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP)

Excellent communication skills - written and verbal

Ability to communicate with patients from a wide range of culturally and linguistic backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and members of the LGBTQI community

Interest or experience in STIs and HIV, medical education and research

Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team

Class C driver’s licence
