About the opportunity
The Staff Officer provides high-level business management, executive support and project coordination services to the Director, Capability and Strategic Operations. The role supports the delivery of directorate priorities through budget oversight, workforce and human resources coordination, ministerial and executive correspondence, report development, business planning, key performance indicator monitoring, and audit and compliance tracking.
As a key point of contact for the newly created Capability and Strategic Operations directorate, the Staff Officer plays an important role in coordinating information, managing sensitive and complex matters, and maintaining effective relationships across multidisciplinary teams. The role also supports the Senior Management Team by sourcing information, coordinating responses to requests, and tracking tasks and projects to ensure timely delivery of business outcomes.
The Staff Officer works closely with executive support staff across the agency, including Staff Officers, Senior Staff Officers and Executive Support Officers to Deputy Commissioners, to ensure consistent communication, effective coordination and responsive support across the organisation.

About you
If you enjoy working with a broad range of stakeholders to deliver practical business outcomes, this role may be a strong fit for you. You will bring excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work professionally in a high-volume environment. You will also bring experience in planning, developing and monitoring budgets, and interpreting financial reports.
