The Opportunity
We are looking for SCP for Illawarra-Shoalhaven region on a permanent part-time basis for Thursday and Fridays. you'll play an important role in delivering high-quality diagnostic services and exceptional patient care.
You will need to be able to perform echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms and assists Cardiologists in TOEs. You will be required to do inpatient echos at Wollongong Private Hospital also.
The candidate must be able to travel between Wollongong, Shellharbour and Nowra.
Key Responsibilities
Our echocardiography services include:
- Outpatient and inpatient transthoracic echocardiography
- Exercise stress echocardiography
- Dobutamine stress echocardiography
- Assisting with transoesophageal echocardiography
- Adult congenital heart disease echocardiography clinic (weekly)
You'll also support our growing structural heart program, including:
- Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI)
- Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) and Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) closures
- Left Atrial Appendage (LAA) closure procedures
- Our expanding Mitral Clip program
What you’ll do:
- Operate cardiac ultrasound and testing equipment to obtain optimal images and support medical diagnoses.
- Interpret and process requests for cardiac procedures, ensuring accurate patient identification and history review.
- Document patient conditions, including pathology characteristics, and deliver high-quality patient care and customer service.
- Build strong relationships with referrers, addressing their needs promptly and explaining procedures clearly to patients.
- Collaborate with Cardiologists and staff to uphold quality standards, safety, and compliance with industry regulations.
About You
We're looking for someone who combines strong clinical capability with a genuine passion for delivering outstanding patient care.
You'll have:
- A postgraduate qualification in Cardiac Ultrasound
- Current registration with the Australasian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR)
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in echocardiography
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a warm, patient-focused approach
- You will need to be able to perform echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms and assists Cardiologists in TOEs.
- You will be required to do inpatient echos at Wollongong Private Hospital also.
- The candidate must be able to travel between Wollongong, Shellharbour and Nowra.
- The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while taking direction when required
- A commitment to continuous learning and professional development
- A current Australian Driver Licence
