About the Role
We are seeking a full-time Vegetable Grower to join our team and support the planning, coordination, and management of vegetable crop production. This role involves both hands-on farming and operational planning to ensure consistent crop yield, quality, and efficiency across our farm.
Key Responsibilities
As a Vegetable Grower on our farm, your duties will include:
- Planning and coordinating vegetable crop production from planting through to harvest, ensuring optimal yield and quality.
- Managing day-to-day farm operations, including planting schedules, irrigation, fertilisation, and pest control.
- Monitoring crop health and growth stages, identifying and addressing issues such as nutrient deficiencies, pests, and diseases.
- Operating and maintaining farm machinery and equipment used in vegetable production.
- Implementing sustainable farming practices and ensuring compliance with food safety and workplace health and safety standards.
- Supervising and supporting farm staff in daily activities, providing guidance on best practices and safe work procedures.
- Maintaining accurate records of crop inputs, yields, and farm activities.
Requirements
- Diploma or higher qualification in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Proven experience in vegetable crop production, including knowledge of planting, irrigation, pest and disease management, and harvesting techniques.
- Strong practical skills in operating farm machinery and equipment.
- Understanding of sustainable farming practices and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Good communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and ability to work autonomously when required.
