Full time, fixed term until 31 December 2028. Located on the Camperdown Campus at the School of Life and Environmental Sciences (SOLES)
Opportunity to make valuable contributions to research in Metabolic disease
Base Salary, level B $127,436 - $141,774 p.a + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The School of Life and Environmental Sciences (SOLES) is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher Fellow in Metabolic Diseases to carry out independent research, keeping with the aims of the laboratory and the Charles Perkins Centre.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

participate in and continue laboratory research programs
carry out independent research that is in keeping with the aims of the lab and the CPC
coordinate a number of research programs and ensure timely completion
develop and apply methodologies, as the need arises, and teach new methodologies to members of the group and wider university community as needed
foster collaborations to advance research programs within the group
compete for national and international funding opportunitie
gain peer recognition by presentations at national and international scientific meetings
publish research in high-ranking peer-reviewed journals in a timely manne
supervise honours and PhD students
contribute to teaching at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level and pursue opportunities to enhance their expertise in higher education
contribute to the University’s work of community and alumni engagement and, where appropriate, contribute their expertise and knowledge to broader forums of public
establish considerable expertise in unique areas such as cell and molecular biology, small animal experiments, human trial design and coordination, artificial intelligence, and data and image analysis, and to disseminate this skill base to other members of the team at CPC as well as external researchers and collaborators.

About you

a PhD in biochemistry, or related disciplines
expertise in performing experiments in small animals
expertise in in vivo metabolic phenotyping
expertise in designing and coordinating human trials
expertise in artificial intelligence
expertise in data and image analysis
expertise in genetic mapping
experience with cell culture
general expertise in proteomics
general expertise in grant writing
proficiency in scientific programming (e.g. Python, R)
excellent communication (written and verbal)
organisational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
a strong track record of publishing their research
the ability and a willingness to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams to contribute to long-term research goals.
