Civmec is proud to be delivering Iluka’s SMPE&I package, including the piping installation scope for the Iluka Rare Earths Refinery — Australia’s first fully integrated rare earths facility and a key component of the nation’s critical minerals strategy. This large‑scale project involves complex structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation works across a high‑profile processing facility.

With construction progressing, we are now seeking experienced QC Inspectors to support quality assurance and inspection activities across the SMPE&I scope. You will play a key role in ensuring compliance with project specifications, standards and ITPs, supporting documentation, and maintaining high‑quality outcomes across all installation works.

This position is based at the Iluka Rare Earths Refinery in Eneabba, approximately 274 km north of Perth, Western Australia. We offer a 2:1 DIDO roster, with all transport to and from site provided via Perth Airport.

The Role

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct inspections of SMP (Structural, Mechanical, Piping) as applicable to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
Assist in the development of procedures, management plans, ITPs, and methodology statements in accordance with project specifications and relevant standards.
Perform progressive inspections and completion of weld mapping, inspection and test reports, field inspection checklists, and other documentation as required by the project’s quality management system.
Raise NDE requests, coordinate NDE subcontractor activities on site.
Review, validate, and endorse NDE reports.
Monitor material traceability in accordance with construction drawings and specifications.
Review flange management, alignments and dimensional verification checks
Compile the project MDR progressively, ensuring full traceability is maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
Provide technical advice and support to the project team on all quality-related matters.
Liaise with client inspection representatives and conduct routine surveillance and inspections.
Review drawings, specifications, and documentation for accuracy and constructability.
Identify and report non-conformances, defects, or deviations, and support resolution processes with the project team.
Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure timely corrective actions and drive continuous improvement.

About You

To be successful in the role you will possess the following:

CSWIP 3.1 or equivalent international certificate
Minimum of 5 years’ industry experience, including at least 3 years in a QA/QC role on construction projects.
Proven experience managing ITPs, NCRs, quality audits, and QA/QC documentation including traceability and handover packages.
Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems, construction codes, and standards such as ISO, AS/NZS, ASME etc.
Demonstrated experience in compiling MDRs and maintaining documentation integrity.
High attention to detail and a commitment to quality assurance
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the project team and stakeholders.
Experience working with Construction and Completion Management Systems (CMS) software - highly regarded
Ability to produce clear, concise technical reports and documentation
