About The Team
The College of Environmental and Life Sciences (ELS) was established in 2023 to strengthen cross-disciplinary collaboration, enhance academic expertise, and advance excellence in research and teaching across the life sciences.
The College comprises four Schools:
- Agricultural Sciences
- Environmental and Conservation Sciences
- Medical, Molecular and Forensic Sciences
- Veterinary Medicine
The School of Medical, Molecular and Forensic Sciences (MMFS) is dedicated to developing critically minded scientists equipped with both strong theoretical foundations and practical skills to lead future advances in their fields. The School’s research spans diverse and impactful areas, including human health, infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance, immunology, cancer biology, food production and quality, nutrition, and forensic science.
MMFS offers engaging undergraduate and postgraduate programs and is committed to delivering a high-quality educational experience. A key element of this role will be to teach into, and support the quality of, the professionally accredited Bachelor of Laboratory Medicine.
Your New Role!
The school of Medical, Molecular and Forensic Sciences are looking for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Clinical Biochemistry based at our South Street Campus in Murdoch, Western Australia.
A Lecturer (Level B) academic will undertake independent teaching and research in their discipline or related area. In research and/or scholarship and/or teaching, a Level B academic will make an independent contribution through professional practice and expertise and coordinate and/or lead the activities of other staff, as appropriate to the discipline. A Level B academic will normally contribute to teaching at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level, engage in independent scholarship and/or research and/or professional activities appropriate to their profession or discipline. They will normally undertake administration primarily relating to their activities at the institution and may be required to perform the full academic responsibilities of and related administration for the coordination of an award program of the institution
A Senior Lecturer (Level C) academic will make a significant contribution to the discipline at the national level. In research and/or scholarship and/or teaching they will make original contributions, which expand knowledge or practice in their discipline. A Level C academic will normally make a significant contribution to research and/or scholarship and/or teaching and administration activities of an organisational unit or an interdisciplinary area at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level. They will normally play a major role or provide a significant degree of leadership in scholarly, research and/or professional activities relevant to the profession, discipline and/or community and may be required to perform the full academic responsibilities of and related administration for the coordination of a large award program or a number of smaller award programs of the institution.
Your Key responsibilities will include –

Development, delivery, assessment, review, and coordination of clinical biochemistry units in the Bachelor of Laboratory Medicine, namely BMS323 Clinical Biochemistry 1 and BMS423 Clinical Biochemistry 2, and to other related teaching activities in BMS102 Introduction to Medical Laboratory Science, BIO247 Biochemistry, and as required by the School.

Developing and growing a research program in clinical biochemistry and/or related fields that complement the research activities of the School and University.

Developing strong industry linkages with the local diagnostic pathology sector to enhance teaching experiences for students and/or grow research partnerships and collaborations.

Contributing to the activities of professional bodies to enhance the Bachelor of Laboratory Medicine.

Contributing to the activities required by the course and School to ensure professional accreditation of the Bachelor of Laboratory Medicine.

This Continuous, Full Time attracts a remuneration of:
Lecturer (Level B): $115,512-$136,831 plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.
Senior Lecturer (Level C): $141,088-$162,403 plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.

What you’ll bring to the role:
- Professional experience in one or more areas of diagnostic clinical biochemistry and/or related areas such as endocrinology and/or toxicology.

Previous experience in the development, design, coordination, and delivery of undergraduate units in clinical biochemistry at the tertiary level.

An established or developing track record of research outputs in clinical biochemistry and/or related fields.

An ability to teach into another area of Laboratory Medicine, such as clinical immunology, clinical haematology, or related fields.
Specific Qualifications
Current member, or have eligibility to be a member, of the Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists (AIMS), Australasian Society of Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine (AACB), or related professional body.
