POSITION DESCRIPTION
Job title: Vehicle or Marine Trimmer or Upholsterer or Textile Fabricator
MAIN RESPONSIBILITY:
ü The main responsibilities of a Vehicle Trimmer at Mandurah Canvas include recovering of car seats, door trims, dash boards, steering wheels, shaping and fitting car carpets, recovering car roof linings and making tonneau and Ute canopy covers.
The main responsibilities of a Marine Trimmer at Mandurah Canvas include recovering boats seats, custom manufacturing and fitting boat Bimini’s, canopies, storm covers, carpet and boat clears.
The main responsibilities of an Upholsterer at Mandurah Canvas include recovering of household upholstery, caravan seats and boats seats.
The main responsibilities of a Textile Fabricator at Mandurah Canvas include replacing awning skins, making caravan annexes, inserts and draft strips, making tonneau and Ute canopy covers, and making and installing shade sails, blinds, and awnings.
JOB TYPE:
ü Full-time (Monday-Thursday 8:00am-4:30pm, Friday 7:30am-4:00pm)
ü Salary $75,000-$80,000
REQUIREMENTS:
ü Applicants must be motivated, punctual, hardworking and able to work within a close-knit team.
ü Applicants will need to hold a driver’s licence.
ü Applicants will be required to fill in a questionnaire with their application.
Applicants will be willing to try new things.
SKILL LEVEL:
ü Relevant trade certificate and/or at least three years of relevant experience.
MAIN DUTIES VEHICLE TRIMMER:
· constructing auto framework sections in metal, wood, fibreglass and other materials using shaping machines and cutting and welding equipment
· bolting, screwing, riveting and welding sections together to form complete frameworks
· cutting and shaping panels of sheet metal, aluminium and reinforced plastic and attaching to frameworks using hand and power tools
· modifying assembly line vehicles to special requirements
· preparing new vehicle trim work according to drawings and sketches, and removing old coverings and fittings from vehicles and taking new measurements
· selecting and cutting pieces of fabric, vinyl and leather and sewing pieces together using heavy-duty sewing machines
· installing internal trim in vehicles such as lining, floor coverings and armrests
· attaching door trims, rubber seals, locks and handles
MAIN DUTIES MARINE TRIMMER:
· patterning, shaping and installing of marine carpets
· measuring the width and dimensions of a marine craft, working out the correct formula, select the correct metal bar size and manufacture framework to build a Bimini or Canopy frame.
· pattern, shape, sew and install Bimini and/or Canopy roofs on marine craft.
· pattern, shape, sew and install Bimini Clears and/or Canopy Clears on marine craft.
· select the correct hull lining, measure, cut and glue in the hull lining to the interior cabin of marine craft.
MAIN DUTIES UPHOLSTERER:
All aspects of upholstering including the ability to work with different fabrics.
Selecting and cutting pieces of fabric, vinyl and leather and sewing pieces together using heavy-duty sewing machines.
Recovering of household furniture, caravan seats and boat seats.
Canvas work.
MAIN DUTIES TEXTILE UPHOLSTERER:
Remove awning skins, cut, and fit new awning skins.
Manufacture and fit caravan annexes, inserts and draft strips.
Measure, quote, make and install blinds, shade sails and awnings.
Pattern, make and fit tonneau and Ute canopy covers.
Recovering of caravan seats is beneficial.
