Full Job Description

Peel Manor House is looking for an experienced and reliable Head Chef to lead our café and kitchen operations.

This is a hands-on role suited to a chef who is confident running a commercial kitchen independently. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of the kitchen, maintains high standards, works well under pressure and consistently produces quality food during busy service periods.

Our venue caters for café dining, takeaway, weddings, private functions and corporate events, so the successful candidate must be organised, efficient and capable of managing multiple services while maintaining excellent food quality.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day operation of the kitchen with minimal supervision.
Prepare and serve high-quality Italian, Mediterranean and multi-cuisine dishes.
Lead food preparation for café service, takeaway and functions.
Develop seasonal menus and daily specials.
Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation and consistency.
Manage stock ordering, inventory and food costs.
Ensure compliance with all food safety, hygiene and HACCP requirements.
Train and support kitchen staff where required.
Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen at all times.

About You

To be considered, you will have:

A minimum of 4 years’ experience working as a professional chef.
Strong experience in Italian and Mediterranean cuisine, with the ability to prepare a variety of other cuisines.
Proven experience running a commercial kitchen independently.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
The ability to remain calm and perform under pressure during busy service periods.
A strong work ethic, attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Relevant commercial cookery qualifications are preferred.
