About Aohua International Education Pty Ltd

Aohua International Education specialises in providing international education services to students seeking to study in Australia, supporting students throughout their education journey and working closely with Australian educational institutions and other industry partners.

As part of the broader Aohua Group, Aohua International Education operates within a diversified business environment with extensive experience in international education, migration and related professional services. The business continues to develop its operations and strengthen its services to support international students and education partners.

About the Position

We are seeking an experienced Accountant (General) to join the finance function of Aohua International Education in Perth.

The position will be responsible for managing and maintaining the accounting and financial functions of the international education business, including financial reporting, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, taxation compliance, financial analysis, accounting system management, and payroll and superannuation accounting.

Working closely with the Director and management team, the Accountant will provide accurate and timely financial information to support business planning, operational decision-making and the continued development of Aohua International Education.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain, review and analyse the company’s general ledger and accounting records, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, accounting adjustments and other financial transactions.
Oversee and review accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, including account reconciliations, ageing analysis, outstanding balances and resolution of accounting discrepancies.
Review payroll and superannuation accounting records, including payroll reconciliations, leave provisions and compliance with applicable payroll and superannuation requirements.
Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations and conduct periodic and year-end reconciliations of expense, asset, liability and balance sheet accounts.
Prepare, review and analyse monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements and supporting financial schedules.
Monitor cash flow, working capital and funding requirements and provide accurate financial information and analysis to management to support business planning and operational decision-making.
Investigate and resolve accounting errors, discrepancies and inconsistencies and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records and financial reports.
Prepare and review GST, PAYG and other applicable taxation reporting obligations, assist with the preparation of company income tax returns and maintain accounting records to support compliance with Australian taxation legislation.
Lead the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the Xero accounting system, including accounting workflows, chart of accounts, reporting functions and financial controls, and improve accounting information systems as required.
Develop, implement and maintain appropriate accounting procedures and internal financial controls to improve the accuracy, efficiency and compliance of financial operations.
Prepare financial analysis, account analysis, budgeting information, cash flow analysis and management reports to support the Director and management team in financial planning and business decision-making.
Perform year-end accounting procedures and closing activities, including reconciliations, accounting adjustments and preparation of financial records for year-end reporting and taxation purposes.
Liaise with management, auditors, tax agents and other external advisers regarding accounting, taxation, financial reporting and compliance matters as required.

Essential Skills and Experience

Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
Demonstrated professional accounting experience, preferably covering financial reporting, taxation, reconciliations and general ledger accounting.
Experience with Xero or other cloud-based accounting systems.
Experience in a professional services, education, migration, human resources or other multi-service business environment is desirable.
Experience preparing management reports and financial analysis for senior management is desirable.
Strong knowledge of Australian accounting and taxation requirements, including GST and PAYG.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
Ability to prepare and interpret financial statements and provide meaningful financial information to management.
Good understanding of internal accounting controls and financial procedures.
Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and take responsibility for accounting functions while working closely with management.
