We have a rewarding Geotechnical Engineer position awaiting you at our world class high-performing Underground Technical Services team at Northern Star Resources Kanowna Belle mine. This role operates on a residential 8/6 roster working 12-hour shifts.

Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, the primary role is for the safe management and delivery of all Geotechnical requirements within the Geotechnical Engineering team.

- Be part of a growing operation with a strong mine life and exciting new developments on the horizon.
- Provide expert geotechnical advice for underground mining areas, ensuring safe and effective ground control systems.
- Initiate and deliver geotechnical improvement projects to enhance mine productivity and profitability.
- Continuously improve geotechnical processes for the Mining Department.
- Collaborate with technical teams to design mine levels and stope extraction plans, including rock stress modelling, deformation monitoring and stability analysis.
- Utilise lidar technology to monitor ground conditions and develop effective ground support strategies.
- Use seismic monitoring system, provide timely advise to underground operators.
- Oversee QA/QC for ground support installation, underground scaling, rehabilitation plans, and rock bolt testing.
- Maintain daily/weekly/monthly reporting and compliance tracking for geotechnical activities.
- Review and update the Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP).
- Support the development of geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring systems.
- Regular monitoring and inspections of the open pit, analysis of flyover scans data.
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
Experience: Underground geotechnical experience in a mechanised hard-rock underground mine. Experience with mine design software - Deswik. Experience with seismic monitoring systems – IMS. Experience with geotechnical software – Rocscience suite, mXrap (desirable). Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices. Good communication skills. Awareness of the Work Health & Safety Act and Regulations (desirable).
Qualifications: Tertiary Qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering (or equivalent). Current "C" Class Western Australian Driver's Licence (Manual). St John's Senior First Aid certificate (desirable).
