The opportunity
Provide hands on operational leadership and specialist oversight of Council’s animal management services as the Team Leader Animal Management. Leading a team of officers, you'll ensure lawful, consistent and community focused outcomes, while balancing animal welfare, public safety and customer service. Play a key role in guiding complex decisions, building team capability and strengthening service delivery in a high risk regulatory environment.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading and supervising Animal Management Officers to deliver compliant, high quality services
- Providing specialist advice and decision making on complex or escalated matters
- Planning and managing rosters, resources and after hours response to meet service demands
- Ensuring compliance with the Domestic Animals Act, Codes of Practice and Council policy
- Driving continuous improvement in systems, practices and team capability
What you'll need to succeed
- Certificate IV in Animal Regulation & Management and Government Investigations
- Proven leadership experience in animal management or regulatory services
- Strong knowledge of animal welfare legislation and enforcement practice
- Ability to manage high risk, sensitive and challenging customer matters
- Excellent communication, judgement and stakeholder engagement skills

Pre-Employment Requirements
Progressed candidates will be required to complete a National Police Record Check, a Pre-Employment Medical Check & a Working With Children Check (WWCC). Candidates must also hold a valid Victorian Driver's License.
