The Service Projects Project Manager is responsible for the end to end management of BAU service projects within the VIC service business. The role works closely with the VIC BAU Service Team Leader to support resource planning, prioritisation, and coordination of service project work alongside maintenance and on call activities.
The role exists to provide clear ownership of service projects from estimate through to delivery, close out and invoicing, while protecting BAU performance. The role also plays a key part in identifying, developing, and converting service project opportunities through close engagement with technicians, customers, and account managers.
This is a hands-on delivery focused role that sits close to customers, technicians, sales and estimating.
Key responsibilities
Own service projects end to end from acceptance through to close out and invoicing
Plan and manage scope, schedule, labour and resources for BAU service projects
Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within agreed commercial outcomes
Manage risks, variations and changes throughout the project lifecycle
Ensure service projects are set up and managed correctly in SAP, Wrike and service systems
Estimating and commercial control
Lead estimating for small to mid-sized service projects
Partner with the service project estimator on larger or more complex estimates
Own project cost control, margin tracking and financial performance
Support forecasting and accurate commercial reporting
Drive timely job closure and invoicing
Opportunity identification and growth
Work closely with field technicians to identify service project opportunities during BAU works
Support technicians in recognising, defining and qualifying service project opportunities
Engage early with customers and account managers to shape project scope and solutions
Help convert identified opportunities into executable service projects
Support growth of the service project pipeline in a controlled and sustainable way
Resource coordination
Work closely with the VIC BAU Service Team Leader on short and medium term resource planning
Coordinate service project labour alongside maintenance and on call commitments
Plan project work to minimise disruption to BAU service delivery
Provide clear forward visibility of service project workload and demand
Engage and manage subcontractors where required
Customer and stakeholder management
Act as the primary internal and external point of contact for service projects
Provide regular updates to customers, sales and internal stakeholders
Manage customer expectations around scope, timing and delivery
Support account managers with service project development and execution
Skills and experience
Experience delivering service projects in a live service environment
Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage project costs and margin
Comfortable working with field technicians and service leadership
Ability to identify and develop service project opportunities
Strong communication skills with customers and internal stakeholders
Experience using project tracking tools preferred.
