Essential to meet the Career Medical Officer role requirements is:

Full unconditional General Registration with AHPRA
Australian Emergency Medicine experience at CMO level
Unlimited and unconditional permanent working rights in Australia

In this role, you’ll be part of a supportive and close-knit Emergency Department where your clinical skills directly contribute to the wellbeing of the Lake Macquarie community. You’ll work alongside a diverse team of medical professionals including Staff Specialists, CMOs, SRMOs, Junior doctors, nurses, and allied health staff who are united by a shared commitment to delivering high-quality emergency care.

What You’ll Do:

Deliver direct emergency care and coordinate clinical management in collaboration with Emergency Physicians and Admitting Medical Officers.
Lead and support junior doctors and medical students, fostering a culture of learning and mentorship.
Participate in night shifts and after-hours rosters, ensuring 24/7 care for patients.
Coordinate resuscitation efforts for critically ill adults and children, with support from senior clinicians and retrieval services.
Contribute to a multidisciplinary team environment that values education, research, and work/life balance.

What We’re Looking For:

Full General Registration with AHPRA
Minimum three years’ recent experience in Emergency Medicine
Ability to take on in-charge responsibilities in an urban district ED
Unrestricted working rights in Australia
