We have an exciting opportunity for two Regulatory Specialists
$140,768 - $163,420 base salary plus 12% super
Flexible hybrid working arrangements are available

About the opportunity

The Regulatory Specialist leads the assessment of regulatory submissions and performs other regulatory functions to support consistent, efficient and evidence-based decisions that help keep the Victorian community safe. The role builds professional relationships with regulated entities and other internal and external stakeholders, translates regulatory and policy requirements into practical advice, and manages multiple reviews to completion.

You will work as part of a supportive and collaborative multidisciplinary team and coordinate input from a range of other technical experts to drive improvements in the safety of electricity supply networks and installations throughout Victoria. Strong communication, collaboration, adaptability, problem-solving and organisational skills are essential, along with attention to detail in preparing high-quality reports, briefings and correspondence.

This opportunity suits both mid-career professionals seeking deeper expertise and experienced candidates applying their skills in a new setting.

You will contribute by:

Developing and maintaining effective and respectful relationships with regulated entities and other stakeholders to enable the prompt delivery of high-quality submissions, assessments, and other regulatory activities.
Assessing regulatory submissions and other relevant documentation for compliance with legislative obligations and Energy Safe requirements.
Providing guidance and formal feedback to regulated entities to improve the quality of their submissions.
Presenting to Energy Safe senior management and Commission to provide updates on assessments, and recommendations on regulatory decisions
Providing support to investigators, engineers and other specialists by identifying relevant regulatory requirements contained in accepted plans to inform the investigation of infrastructure incidents and compliance concerns.

To be successful, you'll have:

Relevant tertiary qualifications in law, public policy, commerce, economics, or another discipline relevant to regulatory decision-making, or equivalent professional experience.
Demonstrated experience in assessing complex regulatory submissions.
Proven experience in the interpretation and application of legislation, regulations, standards, guidelines and codes to inform work.
Knowledge of the principles and application of safety management.
Proven ability to prepare authoritative reports, provide advice to senior management, engage with industry and government departments, and negotiate and resolve conflict.
