6 month, temporary full‑time Diploma of Obstetrics opportunity

About the role
The Diploma of Obstetrics resident provides safe, effective and appropriate medical care under the supervision and direction of senior medical staff. This is a six‑month rotation within Obstetrics & Gynaecology and includes participation in after‑hours, on‑call and recall rosters, as required by the service.

Key responsibilities

Provide supervised clinical management of obstetric and gynaecological patients across outpatient, inpatient, elective and acute settings, in accordance with delegated clinical privileges and Barwon Health policies and procedures.
Undertake comprehensive patient assessment, including history taking, clinical examination, formulation of differential diagnoses, appropriate investigation, initiation of treatment, and ongoing review of patient management plans.
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support high‑quality patient care, including effective clinical handover, accurate and timely documentation (including medication reconciliation and goals of care), and appropriate escalation to senior clinicians when required.

Medical qualification with eligibility for appointment as a Hospital Medical Officer
Demonstrated interest in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and a commitment to patient‑centred care and ongoing clinical learning.
