The Role
An opportunity has become available for a Data Officer (Public Health) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 13 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
Contribute to improving public health and immunisation standards
Use sound interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to provide data and administrative support
Liaise with and assist internal and external stakeholders, other Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service (GCHHS) work units.
Respond to issues and correspondence from internal and external stakeholders regarding data quality and anomalies
About you
To be successful in this position you will require:
Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Base salary ranging from $39.98 - $44.46 per hour
About Us
The aim of the Gold Coast Public Health Unit (GCPHU), and the public health program it administers, is to manage risks to the health and wellbeing of the community by promoting and protecting health and preventing disease. The Unit provides a person and population focused response to communicable and non-communicable diseases, and environmental health hazards, by undertaking risk assessments, delivering immunisation services, health surveillance, prevention programs, public health incident response and monitoring and enforcing public health legislation.
The GCPHU team comprises specialists with expertise in many areas including communicable disease control, immunisation, health surveillance, epidemiology, environmental health, research, water quality, risk assessment, food safety standards and public health regulation. GCPHU employs a multi-disciplinary team of staff including public health physicians, public health nurses, environmental health officers, health promotion officers, epidemiologists, data officers and business services staff delivering the integrated public health program.
The GCPHU is aligned to the Nursing, Midwifery and Patient Experience Division of the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service.
