About the role
The Student Wellbeing Support Team offers a broad range of services for students including short to medium term support and assistance with strategies to help them achieve positive outcomes in their chosen course. Student Wellbeing Advisors use a collaborative approach to assist students in managing wellbeing challenges as they arise that may be impacting their studies, serve as the primary point of contact for students seeking general support, advice and assistance, and ensure that students are linked to appropriate internal and external parties for further support when required.
Providing general wellbeing support to students across the Traralgon and Yallourn Campuses this role also has a specialist interest in providing wellbeing programs and support specifically to our students in the Trades course area. This includes students presenting with complex social, emotional, mental health, or educational barriers impacting participation and success. There will be a requirement to develop positive working relationships with the Trades educators, Apprenticeship Support Officers, and wider Educational Delivery team along with the trades student representatives to codesign relevant wellbeing supports and promotions meeting the wellbeing and support needs.
About you
You will be an experienced provider of strengths-based support services and an experienced communicator with the ability to build rapport with students. You enjoy engaging with people, building and maintaining effective relationships, have a proactive approach to your work, and the desire to assist students to gain the skills they need.
Qualifications an experience
- Relevant vocational qualifications - Education, Social and Community Welfare, Community Services or Counselling (desirable)
- Experience in the provision of support services
- Demonstrated commitment and experience in person-centered practice
Mandatory requirements
- Current Victorian Working with Children Check
- Current Police Check (not older than 12 months)
- Current Driver’s Licence
