Full Job Description

The Cathedral School is seeking a permanent full-time Secondary Teacher specialising in Health and Physical Education to commence in July 2026.

We’re a school that focuses on a well-rounded education encouraging students to develop the “whole person" by nurturing the body and spirit as well as the mind. Key Responsibilities

Apply professional knowledge by understanding how students learn and tailoring your teaching to meet diverse learning needs.
Demonstrate strong content knowledge and use effective, evidence-based strategies to teach Health and Physical Education in engaging and accessible ways.
Plan and implement effective teaching and learning programs that align with curriculum standards and foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Create and maintain supportive and safe learning environments where all students feel valued, respected, and motivated to succeed.
Assess, provide feedback, and report on student learning to guide progress and support individual growth.
Engage in ongoing professional learning to enhance your practice and stay current with educational developments.
Collaborate professionally with colleagues, parents/carers, and the wider school community to support student achievement and wellbeing.
Actively participate in professional and community networks and forums to broaden your knowledge and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For

A qualified HPE teacher.
Current teaching registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.
Strong classroom management and excellent communication skills.
A commitment to continuous improvement and student success.
Current First Aid and CPR certificate.
Relevant expertise in teaching Years 7-12 HPE.

Salary of $92,293 for a 1st year teacher and $130,996 for a teacher with 8+ years teaching experience.
