About the position
A Dental Technician at Pearl Medical & Dental centre is responsible for creating various dental prostheses and appliances based on prescriptions and specifications provided by dentists.
Duties
- Fabrication & Modification: Construct, alter, and repair dentures, crowns, bridges, inlays, veneers, and orthodontic appliances.
- Model Preparation: Pour dental plaster or stone into impressions to create precise 3D physical or virtual models of patients' mouths.
- Finishing & Polishing: Polish and adjust dental prostheses and appliances to guarantee a comfortable fit before they are delivered to the patient.
- Digital Design (CAD/CAM): Utilize computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) software (e.g., 3Shape) to digitize and design restorations.
- Lab Maintenance: Maintain, sanitize, and calibrate laboratory equipment, manage material inventory, and keep accurate documentation.
- Collaboration: Communicate effectively with dentists and dental specialists to clarify prescription details and ensure a high-quality end product.
Qualification: Relevant qualification at the level of a bachelor's degree or higher.
Practical Experience : Minimum of 2 years of working experince in the closely relevant position of a Dental Technician role.
Attention to detail: Precision is paramount in dental prosthetics, Dental technicians must have keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy in the creation of prostheses and appliances.
Manual Dexterity: Working with small tools and delicate materials requires excellent hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
· Problem-Solving Skills: Dental technicians encounter various challenges during the fabrication process. The ability to troubleshoot issues and find creative solutions is crucial.
· Time Management: Dental laboratories often have tight deadlines. Effective time management skills are necessary to prioritize tasks and meet production schedules.
· Communication Skills: Clear communication with dentists and other members of the dental team is essential for understanding prescriptions, conveying progress updates, and addressing any concerns or questions.
· Adaptability: The field of dental technology is continuously evolving with new materials, techniques, and technologies. Dental technicians must be adaptable and willing to learn to stay current in their profession.
