About the Opportunity

This 12-month fixed-term opportunity to provide parental leave cover and offers the chance to make a meaningful impact at a pivotal time for the People and Wellbeing division. Working closely with the Chief People Officer and divisional leaders, you will play a central role in translating strategy into action, ensuring priorities are aligned, initiatives are effectively sequenced, and plans are delivered through a practical, hands-on approach that drives tangible outcomes across the University.

This is a highly visible role that combines strategic thinking with strong execution. You'll lead divisional planning and governance rhythms, support informed decision-making, coordinate budgets and portfolios, and ensure progress against key priorities.

Importantly, this role is as much about people as it is about process. Following a strategic re-organisation of People and Wellbeing, we're looking for someone who can build relationships, foster collaboration, bring energy and positivity to the team, and help create a connected, high-performing culture. You'll be a trusted adviser, influencer and facilitator who can navigate complexity while bringing people together around shared goals.

What’s Required

Demonstrated capability in divisional strategy coordination and prioritisation, including experience sequencing initiatives and aligning change with organisational capacity and strategic priorities.

Strong operational leadership and governance experience, with the ability to design and maintain effective operating rhythms, leadership forums and reporting cycles that support informed decision‑making and accountability.

Proven ability to uplift project discipline and delivery capability, including applying consistent project tools, governance frameworks and delivery practices to improve transparency, coordination and outcomes.

Demonstrated leadership in building high‑performing, collaborative teams, fostering continuous improvement, innovation and strong engagement across diverse stakeholders.

Exceptional strategic advisory, communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels, facilitate cross‑divisional collaboration and provide trusted advice that enhances operational effectiveness and service delivery.

Ability to operate as a strategic leader to identify, recommend, and drive prioritised people initiatives that support the ongoing transformation and enablement of the People and Wellbeing team to provide seamless experiences for employees.

Demonstrated ability to analyse complex data, draw insights, and use data-driven decision-making to guide strategy and influence stakeholders at all levels within the organisation.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective partnerships across the University, influence others and facilitate positive change that uplifts the employee experience.

An in-depth understanding of the strategic direction and unique challenges and complexities in People and Wellbeing processes, systems and requirements in a university context.
