Program Manager, focussing on practice & performance in a large Youth Residential Care program
Skilled leader with strong direct & indirect leadership qualities in managing high risk environments
Full time, Ongoing with portfolio review at 12 months|Total Remuneration $165,711.86

About us

We are the state’s largest provider of Out of Home Care services and provide therapeutic care to young people across over 30+ residential homes in Melbourne and across Victoria. Within each house, a team of between 8 and 12 staff provide trauma informed therapeutic care to young people which includes responding to the young person’s emotional and functional needs, the development of their personal skills, as well as engaging in administrative requirements and household duties.

The aim is to provide a safe, trauma informed and nurturing home environment while supporting the young people to be the best they can be.

Your role:

This position is part of a complex and high-risk service area which includes ten Youth Residential Care homes.

In this position, you will be accountable to a Senior Program Manager who has overall responsibility for the program. The Senior Program manager will focus on operational and risk management functions within the program. Your contributions will lead and ensure practice and performance throughout the program consistently align with the highest standards, whilst practice and performance will be your priority, supporting operations will also be required. Furthermore, you will be instrumental in meeting service benchmarks and goals by championing a culture of ongoing improvement and innovation.

Your skilled and calm approach will provide both direct management as well as indirect leadership across the program and will model a therapeutic approach for the benefit of the young people we have in our care and staff across the program, providing high-level oversight, support and leadership when required.

Duties, responsibilities and the skills we want you to bring:

Leadership experience within the Child, Youth and Family sector, including complex and high-risk service environments. Experience in managing Residential Care would be highly desirable.
Demonstrated ability to represent program and organisational interests while building and maintaining strong relationships with government agencies, partner organisations and key stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience in communicating with both internal and external stakeholders, mediation, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to achieve positive outcomes in complex situations.

Reporting to the Senior Program manager you will:

Provide leadership and operational support across a large, complex and high-risk program area.
Provide direct line management to a group of program practitioner level staff, whilst providing indirect leadership to team leaders and house coordinators.
Collaborate with the AV After Hours Program to ensure seamless service transitions and continuity of care.
Drive Performance including, service standards, practice models, adherence to Care and TCI practice standards, OHS requirements, compliance obligations, as well as mandated training and data reporting systems.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives through case reviews, incident analysis and root cause investigations, in collaboration with Quality Manager.
Convene and lead internal complex case and placement breakdown panels to support effective decision-making and client outcomes.
Facilitate program leadership meetings focused on best practice, quality improvement and compliance.
Build and model a strong therapeutic, client-centred culture that encourages creativity, innovation and effective collaborative partnerships.
