The role
Our Property Development and Transactions legal team is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Legal Officer with a background in property law or conveyancing.
As a Senior Legal Officer, you’ll work on complex, high-impact matters, including in support of the Government’s Pre-sale Finance Guarantee program, the property audit for housing, and acquisitions under the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991. From disposals, hardship applications and negotiated acquisitions to compulsory processes and landowner disputes, you’ll provide clear, trusted advice that helps our teams make confident decisions and deliver for the people of NSW.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across the Department, shaping practical legal solutions, contributing to high-quality advice and documentation, and supporting consistent, lawful outcomes in a complex regulatory environment. What you will bring to the role
- Strong experience in property law, land acquisition or conveyancing, with the ability to navigate complex matters and deliver clear, practical advice
- Confidence interpreting legislation and case law, and turning it into simple guidance others can act on
- The ability to build trusted relationships and work closely with a range of stakeholders to resolve issues and reach balanced outcomes
- Solid drafting skills, with experience preparing high-quality advice, submissions and legal documents
- A proactive, thoughtful approach to managing risk, juggling priorities and contributing to a supportive, collaborative team
What is an essential requirement:
- Admitted or qualified for admission as a Solicitor or Barrister in the Supreme Court of NSW and hold, or be eligible to hold, a NSW Practising Certificate
