In this role, you'll:
Be part of TfNSW’s Legal and Governance branch - one of the largest in-house government legal teams in NSW, with close to 100 lawyers across four specialist groups. This role sits within the Commercial, Technology and Property legal team and reports to a Director, Legal Commercial, Technology & Property.
As a senior manager in the team, you will lead the drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts and provide timely, practical legal advice that supports the Transport cluster’s statutory, policy and contractual obligations while effectively managing legal risk.
This contract position for up to 36 months is governed by our hybrid working model, which forms part of the organisation’s Flexible Working Arrangements and associated procedures. This includes a combination of required onsite attendance at our Elizabeth Street office in Sydney CBD and approved remote working.

About you
You’ll possess a minimum of five years relevant legal experience and hold an unrestricted practising certificate.
You’ll have a proven track record working on high value, complex commercial contracts either from within an in-house legal function of a large, complex organisation, or in private practice providing strategic level advice across a diverse client base including public sector / government.
You model the highest standards of integrity and professional conduct, and you are confident leading and supervising junior lawyers. You act as a key point of contact for clients and are able to step in for senior team members when required.
You’ll have the ability to communicate and influence effectively and inspire confidence in clients as they grapple with high profile and often challenging issues.
You can lead and manage challenging negotiations, draft complex contracts and have strong business acumen, analytical skills, and the ability to make sound decisions within a legal context.
