CutlerMerz – Renewable Energy – Graduate Consultant
We are looking for a talented Graduate Consultant specialising in renewable energy to join our Policy and Strategy Team.

Role Purpose
Cutler Merz Policy and Strategy team supports governments and organisations to design, implement and comply with constantly evolving energy policy. The graduate consultant role is to apply an understanding of energy systems and the Australian policy and regulatory environment to provide research, analysis and support to client deliverables and proposals for CutlerMerz clients.
Graduate Consultant Role Responsibilities
In your role you will:
- Be a developing industry professional in the power and energy infrastructure sector and will contribute across CutlerMerz technical service lines as required.
- Assist Principals and all levels of consultants with the delivery of renewable energy projects including:
- undertaking technical research (in particular in Energy Policy), analysis and modelling to provide insight and support advice
- Evaluate current policy landscape and identify gaps and opportunities in relation to Government and organisational energy transition objectives
- applying a deep understanding of engineering mathematics and scientific principles to devise and deliver new approaches in order to solve complex problems
- completing detailed qualitative and quantitative analysis to solve problems accurately and quickly, with the ability to derive and communicate insights and recommendations, backed by clear evidence
- preparing draft reports, proposals and other documentation as required to meet client requirements for projects
- monitoring all workload, project delivery and project metrics to ensure delivery on time, on budget and to a high quality
- ensuring the necessary technical reviews of deliverables are performed in line with the CutlerMerz quality standards.
- Develop business opportunities by establishing external professional networks, and contributing to client planning and proposals (e.g. through client contacts).
- Contribute to knowledge management within the firm and firm continuous improvement projects .
- Build trust and engage with clients and other stakeholders with professionalism.
- Comply with all CutlerMerz policies and procedures.
- Achieve Health and Safety requirements.
- Role model the CutlerMerz values.
Skills and Experience
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field with exceptional academic results.
- A post-graduate qualification in a Engineering, business, policy or economics.
- A minimum of one year experience in a role requiring the application of engineering principles, structured problem solving, data analysis, and stakeholder management (preferably in a consulting environment).
- A demonstrated passion for the Australian and International Energy sector (ideally with a focus in Energy demonstrated through your studies).
- Experience in project delivery and a good understanding of project administration and process improvement.
- Success and experience in building, influencing and maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Highly numerical with excellent analysis and modelling
- Advanced report writing and communication skills.
- Proven ability to analyse problems/risks, recommend and implement prudent solutions.
- A high level of interpersonal, oral and written skills in professional level english.
