About Project Superhero
Project Superhero is a specialist, transdisciplinary, paediatric early intervention team dedicated to supporting children aged between 18 months and 8 years of age with autism and developmental delays, as well as their families. Our team is recognised for its expertise in supporting autistic children and children with developmental delays, with our clinical director being the first mobile ESDM therapist in Australia.
Our approach is child-centred, play-based and routines-based, with a strong focus on supporting children in all contexts of their everyday lives. We use evidence-based practices, including the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM), which all team members are trained in, to deliver meaningful, engaging and individualised support for each child and family. Our daily interactions with families and children are rooted in our core values: curiosity, empathy, courage, and fun.
We use a key worker model, where each therapist works closely alongside the child, family and broader support team while drawing on the shared knowledge and support of the wider transdisciplinary team to provide coordinated and collaborative support. Through this approach, we support children within their home environment to develop strong foundations and functional skills through everyday routines, play and relationships, before extending support into childcare, preschool and community settings to help children generalise their skills across different people, environments and experiences.
About The Role
We are seeking a passionate Speech Pathologist to join our transdisciplinary team. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with children, families and educators across home and community settings.
Within this role, you will:
- Deliver individualised, strengths-based early intervention supports within the home, education and community environments
- Work collaboratively with parents, caregivers and educators
- Develop and review learning goals in partnership with families, caregivers and educators
- Progressively build confidence and independence in managing a child’s case coordination and care
- Collaborate within a supportive transdisciplinary team
- Consistently demonstrate clear, respectful and timely communication and documentation
Who We’re Looking For
Certified or Provisional Practising Speech Pathologists - who have an active membership with Speech Pathology Australia. New graduates and early career speech pathologists are strongly encouraged to apply.
Skills and Experience
- Experience working with autistic and/or children with developmental delays in any capacity - clinical, educational, support work, family, volunteer or lived experience
- Sound understanding of early childhood development and the way young children learn, communicate and connect
- Understanding of and/or interest in a play-based approach to early intervention
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Willingness to travel between home, community and educational settings
- An interest in training in the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM)
- Relevant tertiary qualification and registration/membership for your discipline (as above)
- Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates (or willingness to obtain)
- Valid Australian driver’s licence and access to a reliable car
