About the role
School Infrastructure is delivering new school buildings, major upgrades and maintenance strategies to ensure every early-learning and school-aged child has access to high quality education facilities at their local public school. This encompasses the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.
Strategic Infrastructure Services (SIS) within School Infrastructure is a newly established business unit which aims to future-proof public education by knowing where and when education services are required, by understanding community needs, projections, planning system, economics, government priorities and applying this awareness to short term and long-term planning. Primary purpose of the role
As a Service Planner, you will contribute to the identification of current and future school infrastructure needs through research, analysis and strategic planning. Working with a range of stakeholders, you will provide evidence-based insights and advice that support service need assessments, strategic asset planning and investment decisions for new and upgraded schools across New South Wales.
- Analyse demographic, population, planning and development information to identify current and future school infrastructure needs.
- Prepare high-quality reports, briefings and strategic advice to support evidence-based planning and investment decisions.
- Collaborate with local councils, state agencies, developers and internal stakeholders to gather insights, build relationships and inform service planning outcomes.
- Monitor growth, development and emerging trends to identify opportunities and risks that influence education infrastructure planning.
- Contribute to strategic projects that support service planning, land provisioning and the delivery of new and upgraded schools.

About you
- Experience in service planning, strategic planning, asset planning, urban planning or a related discipline, with the ability to apply sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, concise reports and build productive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- A proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and contribute positively to a high-performing team.
- A passion for evidence-based planning and using data and insights to help shape future education infrastructure and deliver positive outcomes for communities.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements of the role
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent workplace experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
