About the role

As a Senior Professional Conduct Officer, you will contribute to the integrity and effectiveness of NSW's teacher regulatory framework through the assessment of complex professional conduct matters, policy development and strategic advice. Working within a high-profile regulatory environment, you will provide expert guidance, influence policy outcomes and support senior decision-makers on sensitive and complex issues.

This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with backgrounds in regulation, policy, government, law or education who enjoy analysing complex issues, working with diverse stakeholders and shaping regulatory outcomes. You will play a key role in informing decisions, driving continuous improvement and contributing to work that has statewide impact.

On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for:

Assessing and analysing complex professional conduct matters and regulatory issues.
Providing strategic advice to executives, colleagues and stakeholders.
Developing and reviewing policies, procedures and regulatory frameworks.
Preparing high-quality briefings, correspondence and recommendations.
Building productive relationships with government agencies, employers, unions and legal representatives.
Monitoring legislative, policy and regulatory developments and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Managing competing priorities and delivering quality outcomes within tight timeframes.

Our ideal candidate will have:

Experience working in a regulatory, policy, legal, government or compliance environment involving complex assessments and decision-making.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to provide sound, evidence-based advice on sensitive and complex matters.
Demonstrated experience developing policy, reviewing legislation or contributing to strategic initiatives.
Excellent written communication skills, including experience preparing executive briefings, reports and correspondence.
Proven ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders and manage competing perspectives.
Expert understanding and knowledge of teacher accreditation and/or experience in government regulation.

Essential requirements

Tertiary qualifications in the fields of Law, Education, Policy/Government and/or demonstrated relevant skills, knowledge and experience.

Note: A current NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance for paid employment is required before commencing in this role. It is not required at the application stage. The cost of the WWCC clearance is the responsibility of the successful applicant.
