Full-time ongoing Clerk Grade 5/6 ($99,938 - $110,271 per annum) opportunity based in Martin Place, Sydney CBD, with flexible working options available.

About the Role

As our new Assistant Analyst, Policy, you will join the Planning and Housing team within the within the Economic, Housing and Infrastructure Policy (EHIP) Group.

In this role, you will undertake detailed research and policy analysis to support the NSW Government’s strategic priorities in planning and housing. You'll contribute to the development of policy settings, assess proposals and Cabinet submissions, and help provide high-quality advice on the feasibility of key initiatives. Your work will support the effective coordination of planning and housing policy reforms across government.

You’ll collaborate closely with internal teams, public sector agencies, and key stakeholders to inform decision-making and ensure timely, well-founded advice is delivered to senior executives. You’ll also provide administrative and project support to enable the timely delivery of the branch’s strategic initiatives.

Policy analysis and problem-solving: Ability to research, analyse and interpret complex information to deliver clear, evidence-based policy advice that informs decision-making.
Technical and digital literacy: Experience in using digital tools and platforms to research, analyse, and present information effectively.
Communication and stakeholder engagement: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate across agencies and build strong stakeholder relationships.
Project coordination: Experience in managing competing priorities, meeting deadlines, and supporting policy development and project deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
Influence and negotiation: Proven capacity to engage constructively with stakeholders, build consensus, and contribute to well-informed policy positions.
Ethical and accountable work practices: Commitment to integrity, professionalism and adherence to public sector values and legislation
Teamwork and collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively as part of a team, sharing information and support colleagues to achieve shared goals.
