Full Job Description

Role Overview:

We are seeking a skilled GCP Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and cloud-based data solutions on Google Cloud Platform. You will work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and software engineers to ensure reliable, high-quality data availability for analytics and business intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using GCP services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Storage
Build and optimize ETL/ELT workflows for structured and unstructured data
Develop data models and data warehouse solutions in BigQuery
Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across pipelines and storage systems
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data workflows for performance and cost efficiency
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver reliable datasets
Implement data governance, lineage, and metadata management practices
Automate data processing and deployment using CI/CD tools and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform)
Integrate data from multiple sources including APIs, streaming systems, and databases
Support real-time and batch data processing solutions

Required Skills & Qualifications

Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services (BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Composer)
Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Python, Java, or Scala)
Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and data workflows
Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling
Hands-on experience with Apache Beam, Spark, or Hadoop
Knowledge of data orchestration tools like Apache Airflow / Cloud Composer
Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
Understanding of data security, IAM, and cloud networking basics

Preferred Qualifications

GCP certification (Professional Data Engineer preferred)
Experience with real-time streaming architectures
Familiarity with dbt (Data Build Tool)
Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools
Exposure to BI tools like Looker, Tableau, or Power BI

Soft Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Good communication and collaboration skills
Ability to work in agile, fast-paced environments
Attention to detail and commitment to data quality

Pay: $91,140.23 – $149,785.19 per year

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Sydney NSW
