Role Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Fitter / Senior Fitter to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, assembling, and maintaining the mechanical parts and systems that support Direct Lifts Australia’s range of lift and mobility products.
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical Fabrication and Assembly
- Work from technical drawings and job specifications to build and assemble mechanical components used in lift systems and related machinery.
- Measure, mark out, cut, and shape metal materials to suit specific projects using appropriate tools and machines.
- Assemble frames, shafts, housings, and moving parts ensuring correct alignment and operation.
- Prepare hydraulic and pneumatic connections used in drive and lifting mechanisms.
- Carry out trial builds to confirm correct fit and motion before components are released to installation teams.
- Maintenance and Servicing
- Inspect and service mechanical parts, bearings, couplings, and assemblies used in lift systems.
- Identify wear or misalignment and carry out necessary repairs or replacements.
- Conduct routine maintenance on workshop tools and machinery to ensure equipment remains in sound working condition.
- Assist field technicians with mechanical troubleshooting when required.
- Maintain workshop quality and comply with WHS standards
- Follow company standards for quality control and accurate documentation of completed work.
- Assit with installations and workshop operations
- Participate in safety briefings
Senior Fitters may also lead and supervise installation and workshop teams and manage more complex tasks.
Are you the ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Ideally you will bring the following:
- Relevant qualification and one year work experience; minimum 3 years relevant experience in lieu of qualification
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Experience in mechanical assembly, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards
Senior Fitter applicants should also demonstrate:
- Advanced technical troubleshooting and fault-finding capability
- Strong organisational and communication skills
Expected salary: $84,000 - $110,000 p/annum depending on experience, technical capability, and level of responsbibility.
