Hawkesbury District Health Service is a teaching hospital in Windsor NSW, providing acute, community and allied health services for the local community and surrounding districts. The service provides 24-hour emergency, medical, surgical, diagnostic, maternity, neonatal, paediatric, palliative, intensive and coronary care services.

An exciting opportunity exists to join the Hawkesbury District Hospital team as an After-Hours Nurse Manager. This role involves weekday afternoon and night shifts, and weekend morning, afternoon, and night shifts. As the After-Hours Nurse Manager, you will play a pivotal leadership role in the operational management of the hospital after hours, ensuring the efficient and effective coordination of resources, with a particular focus on Nursing and Midwifery Services. You will provide leadership, guidance and support to nursing teams, fostering a positive and collaborative workplace culture through mentoring, coaching and professional development of staff and colleagues.

The successful candidate will contribute to strategic planning, service improvement initiatives and nursing operations by actively participating in committees, working groups and organisational projects. You will be responsible for managing and communicating workplace information through the collection, analysis and reporting of operational and benchmarking data, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements and established timeframes.

Working closely with managers, Nursing Unit Managers and multidisciplinary stakeholders, you will promote effective communication and engagement across the organisation, maintaining awareness of operational priorities and ensuring relevant information is shared to support safe, high-quality patient care and service delivery.

What you will bring to the role

Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Relevant tertiary qualification in management and/or extensive post-graduate clinical and management experience in the acute health care setting
Leadership and interpersonal skills demonstrating motivation, delegation, negotiation and knowledge with clinical experience of evidence based acute health assessment, treatment and care.
Proven ability to provide leadership, manage resources and drive change effectively with a demonstrated commitment to professional development.
Computer literacy including working knowledge of staff scheduling systems HealthRoster and Patient Flow Portal
Understanding of and commitment to HAT, bed management/patient flow objectives in an acute health setting, with the ability to resolve complex problems in a timely manner and demonstrate knowledge and skills in the use of information technology systems to support bed management and Patient Flow
Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage complex, competing and challenging situations, including clinical and corporate risk in a timely manner plus Human Resource management abilities including an understanding of industrial relations and associated processes and procedures.
High level verbal and written communication, negotiation, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to act as a change agent and lead organisational change in patient care, with knowledge of current nursing practice at a local, national and international level.
