The First Nation Graduate Nurse Program has dedicated resources to provide you with support from the First Nations Health Unit, our Social, Emotional & Wellbeing (SEWB) team together with our nursing leadership team. Furthermore, the program embodies The RMH Values of people first, lead with kindness and excellence together. As a graduate nurse, you are an important part of the Nursing workforce at the RMH and we are excited to welcome you to a friendly and stimulating working environment to build your confidence and skills as a new RN.

One-year program – Fixed Term Period

Opportunity to develop a range of nursing skills with two 6-month clinical rotations in a wide variety of specialities

0.8EFT positions (8 shifts/fortnight) to support work-life balance in your first year of practice

Graduate specific orientation and professional development program to set you up for success

Dedicated Assistant Director of Nursing, Early Career Nurse Educator and First Nations Health Unit to prioritise the needs of our graduate nurses
About your team:
We are exceptionally proud to have a team of 90 clinical nurse educators and clinical support nurses who are located on the ward. They are close by to offer you expert supervision, support and education and a safe space when you need a moment to debrief.
Each clinical area has a dedicated preceptorship model, tailormade for that speciality. We aim for preceptors to work alongside you for your supernumerary period, then for the initial period of your rotation, ranging from 4 to 6 weeks and first set of night shifts.

Eligibility Criteria:

Completed all training requirements and will qualify for registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Midwife (RM) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia by February 2027.

Be an Australian/NZ citizen OR temporary resident who holds a visa that gives them the “Right to Work” in Australia.
