Murray Downs Processing seeks expressions of interest to fill the positions of Hulling & Shelling Supervisor.
Responsible for assisting in the processing of almonds from receival, through the field dryer (if seasonally required) into the Hulling and Shelling production process through to the Inshell packing section or kernel sizing room.
The Hulling & Shelling Supervisor is expected to assist the Senior Production Manager in maintaining vigilance in safety, quality and assisting the primary processing almonds into export bags of ‘Inshell’ almonds or bulk bins of almond kernel.
This is a hands-on leadership position where you will train, guide and support your team to meet production targets, safety and quality standards, and continuously review and improve processes.
The state‑of‑the‑art facility utilises some of the most advanced almond‑processing technology available worldwide, and the successful applicant will be expected to develop a high level of proficiency and independence in operating, diagnosing, adjusting, and optimising this equipment.
The Production season nominally runs from February to July. During this peak season the supervisor must be available to work a rotating shift roster of day and night shifts (up to 12-hour shifts depending on seasonal requirements).
The Post-Production maintenance season runs from August to January and during this period the Supervisor works more regular Monday to Friday day hours.
The skills and experience required for this position include:
- A degree in engineering or equivalent similarly related field of study that would enhance the applicant in working within the requirements listed below,
- Having worked in a Food Processing or Food Manufacturing factory for a period of over two-years,
- Having led or participated in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) audits,
- Having previously worked or currently working in a HACCP or BRCGS certified environment,
- Familiar with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and/or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems,
- High degree of familiarity with Continuous Improvement processes such as Lean, 5S or Kaizen,
- Experience in adjusting and calibrating optical sorters such as Tomra or Satake.
Pay: $40.00 – $45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 38.0 – 48.0 per week
