Digital8 is looking for a Mid-Level Laravel Developer to join our talented team of developers, designers, and project managers. You’ll work on custom web applications and integrations for a range of clients, from startups to government, using the latest in PHP and Laravel best practices.

Role Responsibilities

Build and maintain a variety of projects, from greenfield custom web apps through to enhancements on existing platforms.
Collaborate with designers, project managers, and frontend developers to deliver high-quality Laravel applications.
Design, develop, and maintain scalable solutions using Laravel best practices.
Build RESTful APIs and integrate third-party services.
Create and optimise database schemas, queries, and migrations.
Write clean, testable, and maintainable code with strong attention to security.
Use modern workflows including Git, code reviews, and CI/CD.
Engage with clients (with project manager support) to understand technical needs and propose solutions.
Stay current with evolving PHP, Laravel, and web development trends.

Requirements

Proven experience building applications with Laravel (mid-level).
Strong proficiency with PHP and modern OOP practices.
Solid experience with MySQL (schema design, query optimisation).
Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and API integrations.
Familiarity with modern tooling (Composer, Git, Docker, CI/CD pipelines).
Knowledge of cloud environments (AWS preferred).
Understanding of coding best practices, design patterns, and application security.

Bonus points for experience with:

E-commerce platforms (e.g. Shopify, WooCommerce integrations).
Frontend frameworks (React, Vue.js).
Queue systems / event-driven architecture.
Unit and integration testing frameworks (PHPUnit, Pest).
