Ophthalmic Technician / Administration Assistant – Specialist Clinic

We are seeking an experienced, professional, and motivated Ophthalmic Technician / Administration Assistant to join our busy specialist clinic.
This is a full-time onsite role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment and can confidently balance both clinical and administrative responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Taking patient histories and performing visual acuity (VA) assessments
- Performing ophthalmic diagnostic testing including:
- Clinical History
- OCT scans
- Perimetry Visual Field Tests
- Schirmer’s Tests
- IPL treatments and machine operation
- IOL Master 700
- Use of Antares+ Dry eye screening and corneal topography
- Visual Acuity tests & eye dominance
- iCare Tonometry
- VERT glasses
- Triaging and managing referrals
- Liasing with pharmaceutical, pathology lens companies.
- Assisting with patient preparation and clinical flow
- Managing appointments, patient records, and administrative tasks
- Accurate data entry and use of clinical software systems
- Making theatre bookings and completing theatre lists
- Ordering intraocular lenses (IOLs) for cataract surgery
- Ordering and managing clinic stock and supplies
- Providing support to the surgeon for minor in-room procedures including Intravitreal injections (IVI’s), Chalazions, conjunctival cyst removals and other in-room treatments
- Maintaining clinic cleanliness and presentation, including:
- Treatment and consulting rooms
- Bathrooms
- Kitchen and staff areas
Salary
Annual salary in the range of $76,515.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in all of the following:
- Working in an ophthalmic clinic
- Working as an Ophthalmic/Medical Technician
- Working as a Medical Receptionist or Administration Assistant
- Taking patient histories and performing visual acuity (VA) testing
- Using PRODA
- Using Antares+ and IOL Master 700 equipment
- Making theatre bookings and completing theatre lists
- Ordering intraocular lenses (IOLs) for cataract surgery
- Have own vehicle
- Live within 45 minutes from the clinic for clinical fridge outages
Applicants must also:
- Have strong communication skills
- Have strong computer and administrative skills
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrate excellent organisational and multitasking abilities
- Maintain a professional presentation and work ethic
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Be reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented
