YOUR ROLE IN OUR FUTURE
The Parkville Integrated Palliative Care Service is a well-established palliative care service, dedicated to providing high-quality clinical care furthering innovation in palliative care research, training and education. The service operates as a single department across the Parkville Precinct, including at The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, The Royal Melbourne Hospital and The Royal Women’s Hospital. Undergraduate and postgraduate education is provided for all health disciplines and through programmes at the University of Melbourne. The department has a well-developed Research and Quality Assurance program and participates in PCOC and PaCCSC/CST. Our clinical activities include inpatient palliative care, consultation palliative care, outpatient clinics, community outreach and the Victorian Palliative Care Advice Service.
This position consists of a fixed term Senior Medical Staff position (28 hours per fortnight) September 2026 – March 2027
Particular duties of this role include:
- Undertaking a senior clinical role in inpatient, outpatient and community palliative care with the possibility of engagement in the provision of rural palliative care through occasional clinics and/or telehealth
- Undertaking and promoting interdisciplinary research at a State, National and International level, both individually and in collaboration with other members of the department, and The University of Melbourne
- Assisting in the delivery of high-quality palliative medicine educational programs
The successful appointee will have appropriate qualifications and substantial postgraduate clinical and research experience related to palliative care.
Applicants will have the following qualifications and experience:
- Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Palliative Medicine, and/or Fellowship of the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine (FAChPM).
- Recognised by the AHPRA as a specialist in Palliative Care Medicine
- Significant clinical experience in Palliative Care

3. Supervises and trains registrars, residents, medical students, nursing and allied health staff and participates in other educational activities.

- Provides appropriate educational support to palliative medicine registrars and fellows and provides supervision and mentorship for them, as required e.g. VPMTP sessions
- Participates in medical, nursing and allied health education programs
