The role
ALS Metallurgy is seeking enthusiastic Laboratory Assistants and Mineralogy Technicians to join our team in Balcatta or Wangara .
You will be a casual employee working up to 75 hours per fortnight (shift work is required for the Laboratory Assistant role — day/afternoon) , with a view to permanent full-time employment after a period of service for both roles.
Reporting to the Area Supervisor, your responsibilities as a team member will be to perform metallurgical test work procedures safely and successfully to meet the expectations of our clients.
These are not FIFO mine site positions, and all training will be provided.
Typical duties include:
Supporting the Area Supervisor and Team Leaders, you will assist in performing bench test work procedures.
Involvement in the sample preparation process and procedures.
Following procedures to complete test work to a high safety standard.
Accurate record keeping, capturing, and processing control samples.
Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in the workplace.

Good communication, organisational, and time management skills.
Great attention to detail and highly motivated.
Ability to undertake shift work as required.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good physical fitness with the ability to perform manual handling tasks.
Good literacy, numeracy, and computer skills.
Alignment to ALS core values and culture.
Previous experience in similar laboratory or mine site roles will be highly regarded
Exposure to mine site test work would make ideal applicants for these roles, and knowledge of mineral processing or equipment operation would be highly beneficial but not essential.
Good mechanical aptitude would also be highly desirable.
