Floor Manager — Guest Experience & Operations
Nine Yards · South Melbourne · $75,000 - $80,000 + Super · Daytime Only
Who We Are
Nine Yards is a South Melbourne original. Unique menu, a TikTok-famous prawn toast, a loyal local following, and a corporate lunch crowd that knows good food when they find it. We are part of Gather'd Hospitality Group — five venues, one standard: make every guest a regular.
We show up to make your day. We need a Floor Manager who means it.
The Role
You will own this room. Every guest who walks through the door — the corporate solo at the window, the mum
navigating a pram through the entrance, the foodie who crossed town for the prawn toast, the market crowd on
Saturday — they all leave feeling like the visit was the best part of their day. Because you made it that way.
You will also set the tone for your entire team from the moment you walk in. Your energy is the standard. High warmth with guests. Zero tolerance for drift. Staff who are not willing to change will not last — and you are comfortable with that.
Who You Are
- You light up a room. Guests feel it the second you acknowledge them — and they come back because of it.
- You remember names, orders, and details. You notice when a regular hasn't been in and you say something
when they return.
- You hold a door open for a mum with a pram without being asked. You have something for the kids before she
sits down.
- You can make a corporate guest at 8am feel like the room was set up just for them — and mean it.
- You are genuinely loving toward people and completely unsentimental about underperformance. Both. At the
same time.
- You are not afraid of conflict. You have hard conversations early, clearly, and without drama. Staff who are not
willing to change do not stay.
- You build a team in your image — attentive, energised, guest-first, and accountable to each other.
- You speak in numbers. You know what a 15-minute docket time costs and you act on it.
What You Get
- $75,000 - $80,000 + Super — annual salary, paid to perform, not to show up
- Weekends and public holidays are mandatory — no exceptions. This is hospitality and we are open when our
guests need us.
- Daytime only — no nights, no late closes. Real life outside work.
- Earned flexibility — hit your KPIs consistently and you earn the right to manage your own schedule. Miss your
numbers and the flexibility goes with them.
- Financial mentorship — you will learn P&L, COGS, and labour mechanics inside a 7-figure hospitality group.
Most supervisors never see this. You will.
- Career pathway — prove you can run this machine and multi-venue progression is real, not a recruitment line.
- Close to public transport — South Melbourne, easily accessible.
- A product worth selling — the food does the heavy lifting. Your job is to make sure every guest comes back for it.
If you are the kind of person who walks into a room and makes it better — and you have the
backbone to hold a team to a standard — apply now.
