Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Winemaker to join our South Australia operations. This role is responsible for overseeing the full winemaking process, from grape selection through to fermentation, maturation, blending, and bottling, ensuring consistent product quality and style aligned with the company’s commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all stages of winemaking, including grape intake, crushing, fermentation, maturation, and bottling
- Monitor and control wine quality, including laboratory analysis and sensory evaluation
- Develop and maintain wine styles consistent with brand positioning and market demand
- Manage blending decisions and supervise vintage production planning
- Coordinate with vineyard managers, suppliers, and bottling facilities
- Ensure compliance with Australian wine production standards and regulations
- Optimise production processes, cost control, and operational efficiency
- Maintain accurate production records and technical documentation
- Support brand development, cellar door presentation, and client engagement where required
Selection Criteria
- A Bachelor degree or higher in Oenology, Viticulture, Wine Science, or a closely related field
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in winemaking or winery operations
- Demonstrated experience across key stages of winemaking, including fermentation, maturation, blending, and bottling
- Strong technical knowledge of wine chemistry, microbiology, and sensory analysis
- Experience working in premium wine production environments is highly regarded
- Ability to contribute to wine style development and quality control processes
- Experience coordinating with vineyards, suppliers, and production stakeholders
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple production priorities
- Effective communication skills and ability to work within an international business environment
- Proficiency in English; bilingual skills are advantageous
