Join our Vascular Surgery Team at Flinders!
The position of Vascular Surgery Registrar involves teaching junior medical officers and medical students. Is responsible to be involved in research and audit work as required, attend weekly unit and vascular surgery meetings and have involvement in weekly tutorials as part of the vascular training program.
About the role:
Reporting to the Head of Unit Vascular Surgery, this role is responsible for the provision of high-quality care to patients in the wards, investigational and procedural areas, emergency department and outpatients.
Duties for the role will include:
Providing appropriate clinical care to patients
Coordinating the follow up care of patients
Providing appropriate direction and supervision to resident medical officers and interns
Ensuring the maintenance of comprehensive clinical records which document significant patient management decisions
Ensuring effective communication with other care providers to promote continuity of patient care
Supporting teamwork and co-ordination amongst medical, allied health, nursing and administrative staff to ensure better service outcomes
Attending and participating in clinical and departmental meetings
Being responsive to the expectations and needs of both clinical and non-clinical colleagues
Contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of our consumers.
About you:
MBBS of equivalent.
Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent.
Registrable with the Medical Board Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration.
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people including colleagues and other professional staff, whilst acting as a role model for medical students and junior medical staff.
A commitment to providing a quality service to patients and their families.
Ability to work as a member of a team and supervise junior medical staff.
High level skills in problem solving and decision making.
Good teaching skills.

As per the SMOEA 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12-month allocation as Advanced Trainee will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills, and capabilities.
