About the Role
We’re on the lookout for an experienced HVAC Refrigeration Mechanic to join our dynamic team in Kent Town. This full-time, permanent role offers the stability of regular working hours (7:00 am – 3:30 pm) with a 40-hour week and the added benefit of one Rostered Day Off (RDO) per month.
In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring our clients’ air conditioning and mechanical systems are running smoothly. You’ll diagnose issues, perform repairs, and provide top-notch service that makes a real difference for our clients.
Job Summary
A HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic is responsible for the following activities relating to commercial mechanical services installation with Specialist Air Management:
Key Responsibilities
- Install HVAC and refrigeration equipment, including:
- Air conditioning split systems (high wall, ducted and cassette)
- Air conditioning multi head VRF/VRV systems
- Refrigeration pipework and condensate drains to the above systems
- Controls and interconnecting wiring to the above systems
- Ducting and air diffusion to the above systems where required
- Ventilation systems
- Testing and commissioning of above systems for project delivery including reporting and documentation.
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and servicing if required.
- Read and interpret mechanical shop drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Test systems for proper performance and compliance with safety standards.
- Handle refrigerants safely and according to environmental regulations.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety procedures.
- Ability to communicate autonomously to direct site/project manager and/or within a team environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (or equivalent trade qualification).
- Refrigerant Handling Licence (ARCTick)
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Whitecard
- Elevated Work Platform License (or willingness to obtain one)
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of electrical systems and controls.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in confined spaces or at heights.
Preferred Experience
- 5+ years of experience in HVAC or refrigeration systems.
- Experience with commercial and industrial equipment.
- Familiarity with energy-efficient systems and smart controls.
Working Conditions
- Indoor and outdoor work environments.
- General hours of work between 7.00am-3.30pm. May involve overtime and/or adjusted work hours of 6.00am-4.00pm when required.
- Exposure to commercial construction building sites
- Use of hand and power tools.
