The Company
At Comunet, we love great tech—but what really drives us is what it makes possible. For 30 years, we’ve been helping organisations get more from their IT, whether that means tightening security, modernising legacy environments, reducing complexity, or setting them up for what’s next. We work with smart people, solve real problems, and build technology that genuinely makes life easier for our clients.
We’re big on curiosity, initiative, and people who genuinely enjoy figuring things out. We like teammates who can dive into a technical challenge, collaborate well, share what they know, and still keep things light along the way. Culture matters here, and we invest in it—with a strong Employee Value Proposition, Friday drinks, team events, whole-of-business catchups, and a fully stocked pantry. We work hard, support each other, and make sure there’s room to grow, experiment, and enjoy the ride.
We invest in our people through certified and flexible training, flexible work options, and strong support structures. We also believe in promoting from within and take pride in seeing our people grow and succeed.
About the Role
The Support Engineer role at Comunet is not an entry-level position—it’s for someone who already has solid runs on the board and enjoys getting stuck into complex technical problems. You’ll be a key escalation point within our support team, taking ownership of issues across networking, cloud, security, infrastructure, and more. We’re looking for someone who can work with confidence, think critically, and bring the kind of hands-on experience that helps solve the tougher challenges when they land.
At its core, this role is about keeping client and internal environments secure, stable, and performing at a high standard—but it also comes with real responsibility. This is a role for someone who can operate with a fair degree of autonomy, make sound technical decisions, and contribute meaningfully across both BAU support and project work. You’ll also help guide graduate and entry-level team members, share your knowledge, and lift the capability of the wider team through experience, mentorship, and technical leadership.
We operate 6am - 6pm Monday to Friday to service our clients and shifts will fall within these hours on a rotating basis.
Applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia on an ongoing basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality IT support to our clients, with a strong focus on responsiveness, professionalism, and customer service.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to IT Support Analysts, interns, and other junior team members, helping build technical capability across the team.
- Manage support tickets effectively, ensuring client requests are accurately logged, updated, prioritised, and progressed through to resolution.
- Deliver remote and phone-based support for escalated and technology-specific issues across a broad range of client environments.
- Contribute to onsite support activities and assist with project delivery, technical implementations, and other assigned tasks as required.
- Maintain, patch, monitor, and upgrade IT environments to support reliability, performance, and security outcomes.
- Ensure work is tracked in timesheets for client services and personal development activities.
- Support and administer core IT infrastructure and cloud-based systems, applying strong technical skills across modern business environments.
Key technical skills:
- Knowledge of basic networking (routing and switching).
- 2+ years of experience in Windows Server Administration. This is expected to include familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, and management of common server roles.
- 2+ years of experience in Microsoft 365 administration (with exposure to hybrid Exchange environments considered highly desirable).
- AWS and/or Azure skills highly desirable.
- Demonstrate a strong knowledge of security practises and controls.
Attributes we look for:
You’ll bring at least two years of IT experience, along with relevant qualifications or certifications, and be ready to build on your existing knowledge. You’ll enjoy working with clients to solve technical challenges and help deliver stable, secure, and reliable platforms for their business.
