The City of Salisbury is seeking a skilled and proactive Cybersecurity Analyst to join the Enterprise Technology Solutions team within Corporate Support for an initial 12-month contract. Reporting to the Cybersecurity AI Lead, you will play a key role in delivering Council's cybersecurity program, contributing to security operations, governance, risk management, incident response and cybersecurity uplift initiatives across the organisation.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced IT professional who has transitioned into cybersecurity and is looking to further develop their expertise while helping drive meaningful security outcomes in a complex and evolving technology environment.
Your key responsibilities will include:

Supporting the delivery and ongoing improvement of Council's cybersecurity program.

Monitoring, identifying and responding to cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities and incidents.

Conducting cybersecurity risk assessments and implementing risk treatment activities.

Providing cybersecurity advice and recommendations to stakeholders across the organisation.

Assisting with governance, compliance, audits and cybersecurity reporting activities.

Supporting endpoint, cloud, identity, email and security monitoring technologies.

Developing and maintaining cybersecurity documentation, procedures and playbooks.

Contributing to cybersecurity awareness, training and continuous improvement initiatives.

Working collaboratively with business and technology teams to strengthen Council's security posture and resilience.
About you:
You are a collaborative and solutions-focused cybersecurity professional who enjoys working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You can analyse security risks, interpret technical information and translate complex cybersecurity concepts into practical business outcomes.
You have experience working within complex or highly regulated environments such as critical infrastructure, government, healthcare, finance or other compliance-driven sectors and understand how cybersecurity supports broader organisational objectives.
You will also have:

Demonstrated cybersecurity experience across security operations, governance, risk, compliance and incident response.

At least 12 months of dedicated cybersecurity experience, supported by a broader background in IT infrastructure, systems administration, networking or technology operations.

Experience working across both traditional infrastructure and cloud environments.

Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

The confidence to provide advice, challenge constructively and influence positive security outcomes.

Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgement in complex environments.

Experience translating technical cybersecurity risks into business-focused recommendations.

A customer-focused and collaborative approach.
Desirable
-
Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline.

Security certifications such as Security+, CISSP, CISM, GIAC or equivalent.

Knowledge of privacy and cybersecurity legislation relevant to local government.
